Full-Time Programmes Team Member (Two positions)

We have an opportunity for a team player with excellent communication and relationship management skills to be part of our Programmes Team responsible for training and conditioning and conservation based presentations in the Zoo’s Wild Theatre.

As we move forward under a new management structure, we are exploring an exciting area in animal husbandry and presentation. We have an opportunity for the right person to join our Programmes team.
In this role, you will be required to carry out duties under the supervision of a Team Leader, enabling greater opportunities and involvement with daily husbandry, husbandry training, educational programs, encounters and presentations.

The position is full time (40 hours per week on a 5 day a week roster including Saturdays and Sundays).

So, if you can demonstrate:

. a comprehensive knowledge of conservation issues and the role of the modern Zoo

. an ability to listen, learn, observe and interpret animal behaviour

. excellent communication skills both oral and written

. skills in negotiation, influencing, building and maintaining effective working relationships

. experience working within a team environment

. an ability to be flexible and maintain calm demeanour when working with potentially difficult, dangerous, and unpredictable animals and birds
