Veterinary Nurse – Wellington Zoo Hospital
Fixed Term (5 weeks)

We have an exciting short term opportunity for a Veterinary nurse who would like a taste of what it is like to work in the Wellington Zoo Hospital. You will need to be a skilled Veterinary Nurse who can work 40 hours per week for five weeks to cover a staff member who is away on leave. Cover will be required from 14 September to 16 October 2009 and you will need to be happy to work weekends.

In the role of Veterinary Nurse you will be responsible for providing veterinary nursing and husbandry care to our collection animals and to injured and sick animals from outside the Zoo. You will be jointly responsible for the maintenance of animal health, quarantine procedures and maintenance of medical records as well as correct storage of pharmaceuticals. An interest or previous experience with exotic and avian patients would be advantageous.

Are you a team player who has sound experience in Veterinary Nursing and a professional approach to the care of animals? Are you a great communicator with good people skills which will enable you to support the Zoo in its delivery of high quality animal husbandry?
