Trainee Presenter - Paignton Zoo

Trainee Presenter vacancy.

Two seasonal presenter vacancies have arisen within the Education Department of Paignton Zoo.

Duties will include creating opportunities for visits to Paignton Zoo to be as informative and enjoyable as possible through a programme of talks, face to face encounters and structured public activities. An ability to relate to a wide age and ability range including people with special needs is important, as is willingness to undertake training and keep self informed of key issues and information. Report writing and evaluation will also be part of the role.

The ideal candidate will possess a level three qualification (A-levels or equivalent) preferably in biological sciences, education or performing arts. A related degree and prior experience of giving presentations or passing on information to people is desirable. An interest in wildlife, motivation to learn and willingness to engage with people are vital.

The position is 25 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekend work will be necessary and there may be occasional evening work. We would hope for the successful applicants to start in mid March for six months.

This position is funded through the Future Jobs Fund and as such applicants must be aged between 18-24 (or in an unemployment hot spot) and currently on job seekers allowance. Please enquire at the Job Centre to see if you are eligible and to apply. A CRB check will be required for successful applicants.

Closing Date 15th February
