The National Marine Aquarium was the first aquarium in the United Kingdom solely set up for the purpose of education, conservation and research. Our mission is to inspire all of our visitors to enjoy, learn and care about the oceans and we need your help to do that!

We have a full-time, paid Aquarium Host position available to start at the beginning of May.

As a host you would be required to interact with visitors, both on a one-to-one basis and also through scheduled talks. Your main aim would be to provide as much help and information as possible in order to improve our visitors’ experience.

Previous experience in a relevant area is highly desirable and you must be hard working, reliable and conscientious with excellent communication skills. Experience of working with children is an advantage. You will be expected to work as part of a team, as well as have the initiative to work independently.

As the National Marine Aquarium is a charity, pay is at the National Minimum Wage level. The successful candidate will be contracted for 33.5 hours a week, although there are opportunities to take on extra hours. All Aquarium Hosts are subject to a CRB check. Volunteer Host Positions

We are looking for volunteers to join our aquarium host team. As a host you would be required to interact with visitors, both on a one-to-one basis and also through scheduled talks. Your main aim would be to provide as much help and information as possible in order to improve our visitors’ experience.
Volunteer host positions are available throughout the week, with flexible hours.

We are also looking for a small number of individuals to assist with the Learning Team’s family activities. These volunteers would be based in our Discovery Zone, interacting with young children through arts and crafts based activities. The hours available are weekends and holidays.

Previous experience of working with people of all abilities is highly desirable and you must be hard working, reliable and conscientious with excellent communication skills. Experience working with children is an advantage and a CRB check is essential. You will also be expected to work as part of a team, as well as having the initiative to work independently.
