Qualified Veterinary Nurse - West Midland Safari Park



West Midland Safari Park is seeking a part time Fully Qualified Veterinary Nurse for maternity cover.

The park is looking for applicants who can perform the following tasks successfully:

•Administration of drugs to exotic species under the guidance of the Vet.
•Maintaining animal veterinary records to a high standard.
•Ordering medications and equipment from external providers.
•Liaising with veterinarians, managers and keepers to provide the best level of veterinary care.
•Conduct laboratory based duties including Mc masters worm egg flotations, acid fasts, microscope work and wet preparations.
•Assisting with veterinary procedures including monitoring anaesthetics.
•To run the preventative and reactive veterinary care of the department.

All applicants must be fully qualified registered veterinary nurses.
This role is based upon working for around 2 or 3 days per a week, which may increase if there is a requirement to assist with any procedures on site.
Ideally, the successful applicant will have previous experience of dealing with exotic species, however, this is not essential.
This position is currently for a period of 10 months and would be looking to commence in May 2010.
