Bird Keeper - Exmoor Zoo

Bird Keeper

Exmoor zoo has a quality established bird collection that needs to be empathically cherished by an experienced keeper.

The intention is for the job vacancy to become the senior keeper in the section after a period of 8 to 12 months once the stock has become familiar. Particularly important will be the actual preparation of stock for breeding and monitoring the impact of the cold and wet winter seasons on stock on exhibit.

Ideally the candidate will need to be self motivated, experienced and have been involved in breeding and hand rearing a good range of species including both hard and soft bills.

Introduction, training and familiarisation will be undertaken by the head keeper and current senior bird keeper.

Initial salary dependent on experience and circumstances by negotiation and senior salary dependent on ability and work load shared in the bird department.

Please phone Danny Reynolds, Exmoor Zoo curator on 01598 763352 or email with CV on exmoorzoo@btconnect.com

Closing date for applications September 26th 2010
