Assistant Curator – Threatened Species - Healesville Sanctuary


Permanent Position
$70k – 85K including superannuation

Are you passionate about saving wildlife and conserving our environment? Healesville Sanctuary is seeking a positive and energetic leader to join our team and help make a tangible impact to saving wildlife and wild places, whilst leading a great team of people!

The Threatened Species Team focuses on research and captive breeding programs as part of State and National Recovery efforts for species faced with the threat of extinction in the wild. Current programs include: Mountain Pygmy Possum, Tasmanian Devil, Spotted Tree Frog, Corroboree Frog, Helmeted Honeyeater and Orange-bellied Parrot.

Reporting to the Curator of Life Sciences, the Assistant Curator – Threatened Species is responsible for leadership of a team including; supervision and management of animal keeping staff, maintaining relevant assets, and ensuring a high standard of health and welfare for wildlife in the collection. The position is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate research and requires close collaboration with State and Federal Recovery Teams, universities and non-government organizations.

Suitably qualified in zoology, veterinary or other life sciences field, you will posses experience leading people, hands-on threatened species recovery and expertise in a zoo or similar environment.
