Part Time Education Officer

Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks in Kent are two of Europe’s leading animal collections. We are committed to conservation, education and in situ reintroduction and support projects.


Currently we are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and confident person to help undertake our expanding educational commitments. This is a part time permanent position, working an average of 20hrs a week. Duties of the role include presenting scheduled educational talks to our visitors; presenting educational talks to school groups and bespoke groups; to man the education centre; to provide guided walks with small groups; to run our Junior Ranger and Keeper Academy sessions and assist in creating trails and education activities linked to our monthly themed events.


Ideally, the candidate will have previous experience working in an educational role gained in an established learning/educational faculty as experience in presenting talks to the public is essential. You will also need a good knowledge of exotic wild life and global animal conservation issues. We are looking for a proactive individual with good proven people skills who is a confident and accomplished public speaker.


The role is based at Howletts Park but the successful candidate will be required to work at our sister park, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park as required so candidates must have a full valid driving license and their own transport.


Working 20 hours per week on an alternate Saturday/Sunday/Monday and Sunday/Monday rota basis. Candidates must therefore be prepared to work weekends and public holidays.
