Senior Keeper
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Keeper to join the
team at Newquay Zoo. The post requires a
hard working, dedicated, enthusiastic and reliable individual to oversee and
contribute to the day to day running of the Tropical House section.
The successful candidate must have an extensive knowledge
and wide-ranging experience of exotic animal management, with specialist
taxonomic knowledge and experience in the field of Herpetology and
Ornithology. The ideal candidate will
possess the aptitude to implement, update and improve the current management
techniques for nutrition, enrichment and breeding within these fields. In addition, they will assist in the future
development of the section and be involved with in house staff training.
The section currently houses over 50 species of reptiles,
amphibians and birds consisting of approximately 260 individuals with the
addition of 6 mammal species.
A relevant number of years working in Herpetology and
Ornithology is required, and preferably within a BIAZA/EAZA recognised
institution. The ideal candidate will
have attained the DMZAA or equivalent qualification in animal management or
biological sciences.
