CURATOR OF PLANTS &
GARDENS
PAIGNTON ZOO ENVIRONMENTAL PARK

Salary £35,000
The position is answerable
to the Director of Operations and will involve the botanical management of the
Zoo site, servicing the visitor amenities and overseeing the recycling
initiatives. A broad knowledge of horticultural practices and a keen interest
in environmental and conservation issues relating to the natural world are
essential.
Whilst the post is primarily
supervisory, (i.e.~15 staff including a Head Gardener, Cleaning Supervisor and
Environment Officer), the CoP&G will be involved in all aspects
of managing the Zoo grounds and where appropriate assist with gardening duties.
Other qualities to include
computer literacy i.e. word-processing, database management & email (a
knowledge of CAD and similar software packages advantageous), an ability to deal
with a wide variety of correspondence, giving talks and conducted tours of the
Zoo, and being prepared to attend meetings which may be outside normal working hours.
The successful applicant
will be expected to possess:

a degree in a relevant subject and/or equivalent
professional qualification/experience
·
a minimum of 5 years’ experience in botanical
employment
·
a full driving license
40 hours per week, (some weekend
working will be required). 28 days annual leave p.a.
