Experienced Caretaker



For the department Mammals of our Rescue and Rehabilitation Cluster we are looking for a temporary
Experienced Caretaker m/f
(24 hours per week)
Role and responsibilities
As an Experienced Caretaker, you are responsible for the daily care for exotic mammals and small primates. In practice your work will largely include cleaning, feeding, doing observations, providing behavioral enrichment and assisting in the rehabilitation of the animals. You will be working in a team of experienced caretakers according to fixed procedures and a hands-off protocol. You will be giving directions and guidance to a number of trainees and (foreign) volunteers. Your job will also include a number of administrative tasks. You’re part of a small team, you work well with others but are also able to work independently. The department’s team leader will give you direction. Your workdays will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You are flexible to work during holidays. For this vacancy we are looking for a candidate with proven relevant (paid) experience that is available from the 1st of March.

Feeling for the goals of AAP * A minimum of a 3 years MBO-Animal Care qualification * experience working with exotic mammals * in good physical shape * prepared to work during the weekend * able to work independently, but also possessing the necessary team spirit * takes the initiative and is immune to stress * disciplined to work with protocols * prepared to share knowledge and information * good oral and written expressive ability in English * capable of working with relevant computer programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc).

Terms of placement
We’re offering you a very challenging job with a lot of personal responsibility in an open, professional and international organization with animals and people at its heart, located in a natural environment. It is a temporary contract till the end of the year (with possible extension). Your starting salary varies between € 1.081,- and € 1.307,- per month gross (based on 24 hours) depending on relevant work experience.
