Experienced Animal Keeper

The Lake District Wildlife Park
Cumbria

Fulltime 40hrs per week including weekends and bank hols
The Lake District Wildlife Park is situated within the Lake District national park 8 miles north of Keswick.

We are an open spacious animal collection on the 400acre Armathwaite Hall estate housing over 100 species of exotic and rare breed domestic animals, As a BIAZA member we work with many EEP species and support several conservation organisations both local and international.

Our aim is to deliver a fun informative animal based visitor experience in the heart of the Lake District allowing guests to further their understanding of the natural world around us

Keeper responsibilities:
  • Daily care and animal husbandry duties
  • Delivery of an environmental enrichment programme
  • Delivering engaging, educational and fun keeper led presentations
  • Grounds and enclosure maintenance


Candidate requirements:
  • 2 yrs practical zoo/animal work
  • An ability to communicate well with guests and staff
  • A sound knowledge and practical ability to perform general maintenance tasks
  • A sound knowledge and practical ability to carry out animal husbandry duties
  • DMZAA qualification or similar qualification (experience will be considered without qualifications)
  • Primate experience desirable
  • Reptile experience desirable


Terms:
Fulltime 40hrs per week including weekends and bank hols
Salary dependant on experience
