Education Officer

Education Officer (temporary 6 months contract)

Twycross Zoo is at a very exciting stage of development with the first phase of a 20 year masterplan already underway.  The plan will see the zoo developing new habitats for a refreshed animal collection starting with Giraffe Savannah and Gibbon Forest in 2015 and plans for ape developments also going ahead.

We currently have a vacancy for an Education Officer within our Education Department.  This role is on a temporary basis for a period of 6 months, to support the Education Department during its peak time.  Reporting to our Senior Education Officer, the key purpose of this role is to prepare and deliver talks for groups of students from pre-school age up to undergraduate level and produce educational material for the Zoo.  You will also attend exhibitions, market the Zoo’s educational services and deal with enquiries and queries from the public and visitors.

The successful applicant will have a degree in a Zoo-related subject and, ideally, will hold a teaching qualification or have significant teaching experience.  Excellent presentation skills are essential along with an outgoing and confident personality.  Experience in handling small animals (mammals and exotics) would be preferred.

This is a full time position, 5 days out of 7, including weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.

Please apply on-line by sending your CV with a covering letter to recruitment@twycrosszoo.org,
