Responsibilities        
  • Perform duties of Animal Program Manager as relief when Manager is on break
  • Under the direction of the Animal Programs Manager, perform husbandry procedures of the aquatic animal collections at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas
  • Perform disease diagnosis, diet preparation, animal feeding and cleaning of animal facilities
  • Assist Animal Programs Manager in all aspects of the Castaway Cay Ray’s Stingray Adventure guest programs
  • Perform informal and formal presentations to Disney Cruise Line guests on Castaway Cay
  • Partner with various teams on Castaway Cay to ensure great guest service
  • Assist in supervising and training the guest program Stingray Facilitators
  • Integrate the Disney Four Keys Basics and seven service guidelines into daily assignments


Basic Qualifications        
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of marine life behavior, physiology, general biology, nutritional requirements and reproductive needs
  • Proven guest/public interaction and presentation skills
  • Proven strong analytical skills
  • Proven strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven attention to detail, accuracy and consistency
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to be on time for scheduled shift and presentation times
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-based environment
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule and be willing to work on weekends and holidays
  • Willingness to live on a private island for 13 weeks at a time
  • SCUBA, CPR and First Aid certified
  • Ability to accept change and initiate an action plan
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds


Preferred Qualifications        

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology, Aquaculture or Zoology
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the field of aquarium husbandry; at least one year at an AZA accredited institution
  • Proven leadership/management experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to conservation and animal care
  • Small boat handling experience
  • Advanced dive certifications, Rescue diver, etc.
  • Be able to work unsupervised and make decisions consistent with the team philosophy
  • Be willing to accept and give feedback to other team members openly
