Team Leader – Hoofstock

Team Leader – Hoofstock

Join our vibrant organisation

As an action oriented conservation charity, Marwell Wildlife’s desire is to connect people with nature. Through enthusing people about the wonders of the natural world we’re certain they’ll share our passion to conserve it. Our success relies on two key things. The impression we create through our 140 acre zoological park, Marwell Zoo, with its wide array of exotic and endangered species and the family of talented people we employ who share our passion and bring our vision to life.

A full time opportunity has arisen to join our Animal Management Team as a Team leader of our Hoofstock section.

We have exciting plans for our collection and exhibits, offering great opportunities for creative project and team work. For the right candidate, this post offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a wide range of hoofstock species from Dorcas Gazelle to White Rhino and contribute to captive breeding programmes with species such as Okapi, Grevys Zebra, Somali wild ass and Rothschild Giraffe.

This role is responsible for coordinating & supervising daily operations of the team, under the direction of the Collection Manager, therefore excellent communication, organisational and people management skills are essential.
The successful candidate will have extensive, specialist taxonomic knowledge and wide-ranging experience of the management of Hoofstock with a minimum Level 3 (ANC / DMZAA) or equivalent qualification in animal management or biological sciences.

As a key contributor to the organisation and its goals, you will be expected to set the example, demonstrate positive behavior and conduct yourself in line with our Values at all times as you will be in daily contact with your colleagues throughout the wider organisation and our guests.

Placed in the top 20 of the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not-For-Profit organisations, we know that our future plans will only be delivered through a great team of highly motivated people. We’ll provide a generous package and the opportunity to further develop your professional skills and abilities, to have a big say in future plans and of course, a fantastic working environment!

Accommodation may be available on a short term basis to the successful candidate. Please note this would incur a rental cost. Due to the need to drive park vehicles, candidates must also hold a full driving license valid for the UK.
If you would like to join our unique and vibrant organisation and become part of our Marwell Family, please visit our website, marwell.org.uk for a full candidate brief and our electronic application form. This application form must be completed for you to be considered for this role.

Closing Date: Monday 1st August 2016
