About us
Kumasi Zoological Gardens is a medium sized Government run Zoo located in the heart of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, it houses over 40 species and a wide range of Taxa including, African Elephant, Spotted Hyena, Chimpanzees, Baboons, Venomous Snakes, Slender Snouted Crocodile, Dwarf Crocodile, Soft Shelled Turtle, Turaco, Hornbill, and many more. Some of which were victims of Wildlife crime, all come under the Wildlife Division of Ghana.
The care is given to these Animals by their dedicated Keepers, that which with other departments makes a team of around 25, other departments include Grounds, Management, Admin, Cleaners, Stores, Drivers, and Entrance staff.

Kumasi Zoo has been working hard to make modern improvements to all areas of the Park including that of Animal Welfare, so far many positive and exciting changes have proudly been made, and we are looking to make more. Kumasi Zoo is developing to become one of the leading Zoos in West Africa. However funding and resources are limited.


Keeper Consultants
We are looking for English speaking, experienced Keepers with a wide range of experience working with a wide range of taxonomy, including Apes, various Reptiles, and Elephants, to work in collaboration with the Zoos existing plans, and spend time with a fantastic team to:
-        Share husbandry routines, emphasising on environmental enrichment
-        Implement training and shaping plans
-        Carrying out educational workshops and presentations
-        Staff training on Animal management
-        Enforcing the modern role of Zoos through education, research, conservation and recreation
-        Customer and commercial services
-        Overall to see that implementations are understood by staff and carried out throughout the project
This position reports to the Zoo Management team and Zoo Advisor.

Costs
This is a self funded position, however accommodation and transport to and from the Zoo can be provided
