EXPERIENCED ELEPHANT KEEPER (ANIMAL DEPARTMENT)

With its brand new multi-million elephant facility due to be open this summer, award winning Blackpool Zoo is currently looking to fill a keeper position within its Elephant Section.
The successful candidate will be working in a protected contact system and will be assisting in all aspects of the section’s work, daily husbandry including training. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a close knit team and will be able to demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral, you will be expected to engage with visitors including the delivery of keeper talks.
You will need to be hard working, physically fit, enthusiastic and reliable. You should possess the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) or an equivalent and have a minimum of three years’ in a recognised zoological institution and have notable experience of working with elephants in either a free contact or protected contact environment.  A full manual driving licence is essential and experience of driving tractors would be advantageous.
